LAMONI, IOWA – Grand View women's volleyball program traveled just South to Lamoni, IA where they looked to redeem themselves off of a pair of tough conference losses. The Vikings would bounce back strong with a straight-set victory over the Jackets with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-12.
Grand View University opened the first set with a .158 hitting percentage, led by standout Ellie Dougherty, who recently earned conference Attacker of the Week honors. Dougherty paced the Vikings early with 3 kills on an impressive .600 hitting clip. Graceland struggled to close the gap throughout the set, allowing Grand View to take a 25-21 victory and a 1-0 lead.
The second set proved to be a competitive back-and-forth affair. Graceland capitalized on several GVU service errors, gaining momentum and forcing the Vikings into a tight battle. After Grand View tied the set at 14-all, a pair of Graceland miscues gave the Vikings the opening they needed to regain control. Grand View surged ahead, ultimately securing the second set 25-18.
Graceland responded with an early lead in the third set, but the Vikings clawed back behind the serving prowess of Chevy Wagner-Chun, who delivered back-to-back aces. A timely kill from Jenna Bentz continued the Vikings' momentum.
