ATCHINSON/PARKVILLE, KS/MO — Grand View women's volleyball traveled south for a weekend cap. On Friday evening, the Vikings met with the Ravens of Benedictine College, and they went to four sets with scores of 25-23, 28-26, 25-22, and 25-18. To finish the weekend, Grand View would face a challenge in No. 14 Park University; the Vikings would take them to four sets but fell by 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, and 25-19.
GAME ONE
In a closely contested match, the Vikings fell just short against Benedictine, hitting .110 on 173 attacks compared to the Ravens' .160 on 181 attempts.
Ellie Dougherty was the standout for Grand View, leading the offense with 13 kills.
Sydney Beasley continued her impressive defensive play, contributing eight blocks after a strong showing earlier in the week. The Vikings fought hard to push for a fourth set but ultimately came up short in the decisive moments. Defensively, Chevy Wagner Chun anchored the back row with 22 digs, showcasing her ability to keep rallies alive for Grand View.
GAME TWO
In a challenging matchup against the No. 14-ranked Park University Pirates, the Vikings demonstrated resilience in their final weekend contest. Grand View recorded their best hitting percentage of the weekend at .185, showcasing offensive determination early in the sets. The Vikings' relentless defense forced the Pirates into 22 hitting errors, significantly above their average.
Dougherty capped off a strong weekend with a standout performance, delivering 18 kills — her highest weekend tally. Beasley also made her mark at the net, contributing a solid defensive effort with six blocks. Despite the tough competition, the Vikings' grit and individual performances were noteworthy as they faced off against a formidable opponent.

The Grand View women's volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, September 24th, at 7:00 p.m., as they travel to the southern border of Iowa for a matchup against the Yellowjackets of Graceland University. The Yellowjackets are currently led by a first-year head coach.
