Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Vikings Draw with the Mustangs in Season Opener

SIOUX CITY, IOWA — The Grand View women's soccer team took to the pitch for the first time this season; the Vikings traveled to the northwestern side of Iowa to open their non-conference debut. The Vikings and Mustangs battled through the heat, and both teams were relentless in giving up a goal, resulting in a 0-0 tie.

Maya Fritz would get in the stat books early for the Vikings after recording a save around the game's 20th minute. The Viking's first and only shot in the first half by Ella Forsyth would miss the mark with just ten minutes remaining in the first half of play, but Morningside's last two attempts would come up empty after a high ball and another save by Fritz.

Morningside came out aggressive in the opening minutes of the final half, but Grand View's defense held firm on both early shot attempts. Forsyth was the Vikings' only look at a shot, but it was unsuccessful, resulting in a tie with the Mustangs.

MATCH NOTES
  • The Vikings and Mustangs have tied in 3 of their eight matches.
  • Fritz recorded seven saves in her sophomore debut.
