Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Moves on to the Second Round of Postseason Play

CEDAR RAPIDS- After rain delays all day pushed the first pitch back nearly 9 hours the Vikings finally stepped foot on the field. The Vikings made the best of the rain delay as they came out hot and picked up a round one win, 13-8 off 11 hits.

Jessica Walljasper would pick up the win, 17th of the season, after throwing 6.1 innings and generating 10 fly outs. Walljasper would also pick up two doubles throughout the game helping lift the Vikings over the pioneer. Olivia Kyes would help bring in the first two runs in the game with one off an error in the 2nd and the next off a double in the 4th inning. That hit in the 4th would help spark the Vikings offense as they score 11 runs over the next three innings. The 5-run 5th would see the first two runs walked in before stealing home on a wild pitch. Kyes would wrap things up with a 2 run single into the gap in right center. In the 6th inning Allyx Lee would get walked again bringing in another run before Kyes found another gap in the outfield scoring the final two runs. The pioneers would score a pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to try and rally back into the game, but it wouldn't be enough.
