Vikings Split, Walljasper Tosses a Perfect Game

DES MOINES, IOWA — Grand View capped off their 7th and 8th games in 7 days with a split afternoon with Missouri Valley. Grand View took game one with a decisive 9-0 win in 5 innings behind a Jessica Walljasper perfect game. Mo Valley would bounce back and sneak out a win over Grand View 3-2 in the final game.

GAME 1: The first game was all Grand View as Walljasper, and the defense shut down Mo Valley, never allowing a single baserunner. Walljasper dealt 8 strikeouts on her way to her 12th win of the season. On the offensive side of the plate, Nevaeh Randall got the Vikings rolling in the 3rd inning as she hit a 3-run homer and third HR of the weekend. The rest of the damage would be done in the 4th inning with aggressive baserunning and patience in the batter's box, drawing a handful of walks. Overall, the Vikings were able to collect 10 total hits in the shortened game while only leaving 4 runners on base.

GAME 2: Mo Valley was able to generate a few runs early, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead. Randall kept her hot streak going, hitting another home run to get Grand View back on the board. Walljasper brought in another Vikings run in the bottom of the 5th inning, but it wouldn't be enough. Madi Huisman was able to collect 6 strikeouts along the way.

· Grand View's 9-0 win today was the most significant margin of Victory in the series.
