DES MOINES, IA: The Vikings welcomed non conference opponent Northwestern College this week for a pair of game against a top 15 team. The Vikings would struggle to find much momentum through the games as they would fall 9-1 and 2-0 in the afternoon.
GAME 1: Northwestern would do some damage early as they scored in each of the first 4 frames but it would be
Nevaeh Randall who would lift the Vikings with here solo home run to dead center field in the bottom of the third, she would go 2-3 in game one.
Jessica Walljasper would follow that up with a double through the left center gap but they would fail to capitalize off of that momentum. Grand View would struggle to move runners around in game one as they left 6 runners stranded on base before falling 9-1.
Game 2: The second game of the afternoon was a defensive showdown as the teams struggled to string together hits. The only runs of the game would come in the top of the 6th after a close call at the plate went the way of the Raiders. The Vikings would collect 5 hits with Walljasper going 2-3 in the game.
Madi Huisman would throw a complete game with 3 strikeouts and 7 ground outs. The Vikings would put the pressure on the Raiders in the bottom of the 7th as they would make solid contact with several balls but they never made it past the defense, Vikings fall 2-0.
