Grand View Splits Their Final Home DH of the Year

DES MOINES, IA: With weather concerns this weekend the Vikings took on MidAmerica Nazarene Tuesday afternoon instead of Saturday. The Vikings would bounce back from a 1-3 weekend with a 5-2 win in game one. The Pioneers would bounce back and take game two of the series 5-3 over the Vikings.

GAME 1: Jessica Walljasper would pitch a complete game to pick up her 15th win of the season while only surrendering 6 total hits and collecting 5 strikeouts. Walljasper also led the way going 3-4 from the plate. Chloe Kottlowski would score the Vikings first run of the game off a sac fly in the bottom of the second before Olivia Kyes scored a run by getting hit by a wild pitch. Kyes would help bring in another run in the bottom of the 4thwith a triple up the right field line. Kylie Merical would bring Kyes into score a few pitches later helping secure the game one win. Grand View would collect 8 hits in 24 at bats and only strikeout three times.

GAME 2: Lani Gannon would start game two as she threw 7 innings collecting 2 strikeouts and forcing 10 ground outs. Kyes would continue her big day as she collected another RBI with a double into right field in the bottom of the 5th. Nevaeh Randall would tie the game up in the bottom of the 7th inning with a 2 run single into right field. Those runs would help extend the game, but it would not be enough to uplift the Vikings as they surrendered two runs in the top of the 8th and were unable to respond.
