Grand View Splits a DH in Canton, MO

CANTON, MO: The Vikings doubled back this weekend after a quick turnaround landed them playing 4 games in two days. The Vikings hit the road to travel South were they split a double header against Culver-Stockton College. Grand View took game one with a score of 7-3 before dropping game two 8-2.

GAME 1: A combined pitching effort in game one saw Lani Gannon pick up the win after relieving Jessica Walljasper in the last three innings. The pitchers combined to only allow 4 hits and give Gannon her first win of the season. The Vikings would score early to give themselves a cushion off a Mia Noelker single through the left side of the infield scoring 2 runs in the top of the first. The Vikings would be held scoreless before erupting for a 5-run 6th inning that would end up being the deciding factor. Chloe Kottlowski's single to center field would score 2 runs before Nevaeh Randall would single scoring another run. On that same play the Vikings would bring in two more runs off errors by the Wildcats. Grand View's ten hits and aggressive base running was the deciding factor in game one.

GAME 2: The Wildcats would take advantage of some strategic hits early as they plated 5 runs in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th. Allyx Lee would spark the Vikings as she picked up a runoff of a single to center field. The Vikings wouldn't have much more success on the offensive side of the ball before Mackenzie Meister would try and help spark the Vikings with a solo homer in the top of the 6th. It wouldn't get the Vikings rolling as they fell to the Wildcats 8-2 in the second half of the double header.
