Grand View Softball Splits Their Heart Opener

PARKVILLE, MO- Grand View opened up their conference season with a 1-1 record over Park University. A pair of low scoring affairs opened up going Park's way with a 2-0 win before the Vikings responded with a 2-1 win. With that win the Vikings move to 17-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.

GAME ONE: The Vikings would collect 4 hits in the game and find ways to get on base but were never able to create a spark to push a run across. The Vikings left 8 runners stranded throughout the first game of the double-header. The game deciding run would come early as the Pirates score one run in the 2nd inning before adding an insurance run in the 6th inning. Jessica Walljasper picked up her first loss of the season but still dealt 6 strikeouts in 6 innings of work.

GAME TWO: Madi Huisman would step in the mound for game two and would pick up her 9th win of the season after pitching 10 inning and only giving up one walk and 4 hits. Park would score early as they plated a run in the first inning before Grand View responded with a run in the 4th inning with a Walljasper single up the middle. But Gracie Hagle would be the hero as she grounded out to 3rd base in the top of the 10th inning to score the game winning run.
