CANTON, MO: Grand View moves to 2-0 in Heart Conference play with a decisive win over the Wildcats. Grand View took control of the game early and never looked back as they had big set wins of 25-15, 25-15, & 25-8.
SET 1: Culver-Stockton jumped out to a quick lead to start the set before
Leonardo Annichini grabbed a kill to take the lead 5-4. The teams would trade points until Culver-Stockton took a timeout trailing by 2 points, 15-13. The Vikings would score 6 straight forcing another Wildcat timeout.
Daniel Galili would pick up three aces in this run to help stretch the lead.
Daniel Wong would pick up Kill after the second timeout of the match and help spark the final push from the Vikings to secure set 1, 25-15.
SET 2: Grand View took control of the second set early with a quick 12-5 lead capped off by a Wong block. Culver would climb back within 4 points before the Vikings scored 5 straight to swing the game back in their favor. Bayron Valdez picked up a pair of kills in that rally to help force a Culver-Stockton timeout.
Ryan Griffel and Valdez would combine for a block out of the timeout to keep the momentum with the Vikings. Griffel would tack on a pair of aces down the stretch to help give Wong an opportunity to seal the game with a kill, 25-15.
SET 3: The Vikings were in control of this set from the jump as they exploded out to a 12-1 lead. Grand View would also receive some help from a handful of Wildcat errors in the middle of the set to help propel them forward. Culver-Stockton would take a timeout to try and regroup before trying to rally but
Michael Meacham would stop that with a kill right out of the timeout. The Wildcats would score a few more points but would never be able to spark a run as the Vikings take a dominant 3rd set with a score of 25-8.
