DAVENPORT, IOWA – Grand View University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams launched their season with an impressive outing at the Annual Frigid Bee Invite. The Vikings wasted no time setting the tone, with several athletes hitting NAIA qualifying standards. The men's team earned 95 points to secure a 2nd-place finish, while the women's team delivered strong performances to claim 5th overall with 49 points.
For the men,
Nathan Limas headlined the meet by hitting the NAIA "A" standard in the 3000m race walk, winning the event with an impressive time of 13:50.16, just a few seconds from his conference title-winning time of 13:44.93.
Mason Thompson dominated the 60m hurdles, claiming victory in 8.44 seconds, while teammate
Nathan Black displayed versatility with a 2nd-place finish in the 600m (1:34.06), 3rd in the 60m hurdles (9.28), and 5th in the high jump (1.75m). Fadi Mott led the Vikings in the 300m, placing 10th in 36.70.
In the field events,
Jayton Poole stood out with 2nd-place finishes in both the high jump (1.90m) and long jump (6.72m).
Blake Willey impressed with a 2nd-place finish in the shot put (15.87m), hitting NAIA "B" standard, and added a 5th-place result in the weight throw (13.33m). The men's 4x400m relay team capped off the meet with a 4th-place finish in 3:30.84.
On the women's side, the Vikings saw several stellar performances, led by
Addisyn Terpstra's dominant win in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.19 seconds.
Anna Paul showcased her range with a 6th-place finish in the 60m finals (8.34) and a 2nd-place effort in the 200m (27.99). The 4x400m relay team, featuring Terpstra, Paul,
Brynna Croy, and Arina Tembo, earned 2nd place with a time of 4:29.64.
Carolyn Miller was a force in field events, securing 4th in both the shot put (12.02m) and weight throw (13.98m). The Vikings' depth was evident across events, setting a strong tone for the indoor season.
