HILLSBORO, KANSAS – Grand View women's basketball looked to continue on their non-conference campaign following an exhibition match against DI Drake University; the Vikings traveled south to Hillsboro, KS, to meet Tabor College. The Vikings would be lifted by a massive game from
Ella Larsen and clutch line shooting to secure the road win, 76-69.
At the end of the first half, the Grand View Vikings established a strong lead over Tabor, building on a series of crucial plays and defensive stops. The Vikings, led by
Ella Larsen and
Anna Gossling, extended their lead by consistently capitalizing on turnovers and drawing fouls, allowing them to control the pace. Larsen was effective in scoring with a first-half 23 points and rebounding, contributing free throws that kept the Vikings ahead. Gossling's defensive rebounding and timely jump shots further increased their margin, with strong support from
Abigail Jones, who nailed a three-pointer in the closing minutes. The Vikings' defense held Tabor to limited scoring opportunities, allowing Grand View to end the half with a solid 40-31 advantage.
Grand View started the third quarter with a spark as
Eva Solseth drained a three-pointer at 9:42, assisted by
Katie Fogarty, widening their lead to 43-31. Moments later,
Ellie Rengstorf stole the ball, though a series of missed shots from the Vikings kept the score steady. Tabor's Kassidy Beam briefly cut into the lead with a three, but Grand View answered with a deep three-pointer from
Ella Larsen, restoring their advantage at 46-34.
Tabor continued to push, with Beam hitting another three, but Solseth responded quickly with a steal and a layup at 6:29, bringing the score to 48-37.
Anna Gossling added another three-pointer off Rengstorf's assist to extend Grand View's lead to 51-40. As Tabor struggled with turnovers, Grand View capitalized, culminating in a clutch three from
Taryn Lindsey with just over two minutes remaining in the quarter. Free throws from Larsen in the closing minute sent Grand View into the fourth quarter up 56-51.
In the fourth, Grand View continued their offensive rhythm as
Brianna Fields scored on a quick jump shot, with Gossling providing the assist at 9:43, pushing the lead to 58-51. Tabor managed to cut the deficit to five, but Rengstorf's three-pointer at 8:17 gave the Vikings a comfortable eight-point cushion, 61-53. Despite Tabor's continued efforts to narrow the gap, Grand View's solid defense and timely rebounds prevented them from closing in. Rengstorf and Fields both added critical points down the stretch, allowing the Vikings to maintain their composure and seal the victory, 76-69.
