OLATHE, KANSAS – Grand View Women's Basketball hit the road to face MidAmerica Nazarene University for their second Heart Conference game of the season. Despite a competitive first quarter, the Vikings were unable to keep pace with the Pioneers, ultimately falling 71-41.
The game began on a positive note for Grand View, with the Vikings keeping the score close throughout the first quarter. Freshman
Eva Solseth led the charge, scoring the team's first five points of the contest, including a pair of baskets set up by
Ellie Rengstorf. The Vikings trailed by just two points at the end of the opening period, but the Pioneers capitalized on Grand View turnovers, converting them into offensive opportunities. MidAmerica Nazarene outscored the Vikings by 10 points off turnovers in the first half and carried a 14-point lead into the locker room at halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Vikings looked to regroup and work to tighten the gap. However, the Pioneers' shooting in the third quarter proved too much to overcome. Grand View's bench stepped up, providing a boost in the period, with reserves accounting for 12 of the team's 15 third-quarter points. Despite the effort, MidAmerica Nazarene's offensive execution and defensive pressure kept the Vikings from closing the gap. In the fourth quarter, the Pioneers continued to extend their lead, closing out the game with a 30-point loss for the Vikings, 71-41.
