No. 18 Vikings Continue Winning Ways in Sizeable Win Over Peru, 76-55

DES MOINES, IOWA – 18th ranked Vikings returned to Sisam Arena as they hosted the Peru State Bobcats. The Vikings held the Bobcats to only five points as they rattled off 23 in a showing first quarter. The Vikings ran away with another win, their sixth straight, 76-55 over the Cats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Grand View opened things up with a 7-0 run over the Bobcats. After PSC connected on one half of a pair of free throws, they wouldn't score their first actual basket of the contest until the 4th minute. The Vikings held an 18-point lead once Cleao Murray laid one in for the final score of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Vikings shot six more times from the field, prohibiting the Cats from building on offensive possessions. The Vikings began to find their best rhythm on offense with lengthy possessions; Reagan Mudderman hit her third three of the season, building the GVU lead. Grand View's largest lead in the second quarter was made possible again by Murray as she connected on her first three of the quarter. Katie Fogarty would connect on a basket upon entering the contest, boosting the Vikings lead to 42-21. A pair of free throws by Peru State would cut their deficit to 19 as the teams wrapped up the first 20 minutes.

Murray collected her 11th point of the contest in the opening minute of the fresh half. The Bobcats would follow with a basket of their own, but Grand View eliminated any chance of a close contest following a Viking 14-0 run. By the final four minutes of the third quarter, the Vikings had a chokehold on their lead, extending it to their most significant point of 34 points after Kaylyn Meyers finished in the lane for two.

Both teams struggled to score in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats would score first for the first time in the contest at the beginning of a fresh ten. The Vikings would dig into their lineup, and freshman Anna Marie Aue would close out the contest for the Vikings with four straight in the paint, securing a Grand View victory, 76-55.
