No. 3 Football Preview: vs. Missouri Baptist

DES MOINES, IA -- The Vikings will host the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University on Saturday, September 6th for a noon kick-off. This will be the first time in program history the two will meet - since the Spartans joined the Heart of America as an associate for football. 
 

THE OPENING KICKOFF
• Grand View University continues its 15th season of football on Saturday when the Vikings face Missouri Baptist for the 1st meeting.
• Last week, The Vikings (1-0) topped MidAmerica on the road, 24-7
• Missouri Baptist (0-1) heads into Saturday's game after dropping a game at home against William Penn, 6-2. 
• This will be the first time the Vikings have played a new opponent for the first time in the regular season since the 2017 season against Avila. 
• The last time Missouri Baptist played a ranked opponent was in the 2022 season against Marian University where they were defeated 45-7 at home. 

Trojan Scouting Report
• Jason Burianek is in his 7th season as the Missouri Baptist Head Coach, posting a 14-58 overall record.  
• Missouri Baptist returns a few All-Conference selections from last season including, P/K Odaine Reid, LB Blake Kight, DE Jeremiah Austin, DT Giovanoi Sanes, and DT Anthony Graham.
• Missouri Baptist after one game has 192 yds total, 92 rush, 100 passing, giving up 262 yards total to William Penn last weekend, 105 rushing, and 157 passing yards. 

A Viking Win Would ...           
• Be Grand Views' 142nd victory all-time. 
• Give head coach Joe Woodley his 49th victory as a head coach and 52nd career game as a head coach.
• Improve Grand Views' record against Missouri Baptist to 1-0 all-time.
