Vikings Claim First Ever Conference Championship Title by a Sweep

Ozark, MO – The third seeded Vikings would have a whirlwind of a week ahead of them. They opened Heart Conference Tournament play against the Mustangs where they won 5-3, followed by a match-up against Clarke for another slim victory 2-1 advancing them to the semifinals where they met Baker defeating them convincingly 16-6. Leading to the team's biggest game this season against The Pioneers of MidAmerica Nazarene where they claimed their first ever Heart of America Conference Championship 11 runs to 5!  
 
How it Happened:
The Vikings would get to work early in the one for all the marbles, starting with a double from Erik Broekemeier scoring Cameron Rindone. A wild pitch and a 2 run RBI would give the Pioneers a 3-1 advantage rolling into the 4th inning.

Brook Heinen would have the answer for the Vikings as he smoked one out to left field for a 3-run homer, putting the Vikings back in front by one run.

The bats would continue to roll for the Vikings as they picked up two more RBIs from Cameron Armstrong, and Rinehart.
Another double from Broekemeier, followed by a rbi single from Cory Prange would give the Vikings all the comfort they needed to close things out as they led 10-5.

The Vikings defense would hold off the Pioneers, pitching wise Jonathan Horn led the way with 4 strikeouts, Devin Doyle added 2, and Brock Sailer with 3.

The Vikings would claim their first-ever Heart of America Conference Championship with a tournament sweep as a 3-seed.

"Total team effort, of all 3 phases in baseball. The hard work and intensity from Day 1, pays off big time. It's an honor leading my Alma mater back to the top of the conference, But more work is still to come. We need to get back to Lewiston!" Said head coach Doug Brinker following their incredible tournament run.
