DES MOINES, IOWA- The Vikings returned to Sisam Arena after a few weeks of being on the road. Grand View hosted the Pioneers of MidAmerica Nazarene University. The Vikings produced great defensive efforts in the second half to hold the Pioneers to just 22 second-half points, cruising to a convincing 68-52 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Grand View managed to hit the scoreboard first with an opening lay-up from
Ella Larsen after both teams went scoreless for the first minute. The Vikings picked up an eight-point advantage after a dagger three with just under 3 minutes in the first quarter.
Rachel Leerar, who had a strong night for the Vikings' with 20 points, would split a pair of free throws to head into the second quarter up by five.
The Vikings picked up pace in the second quarter after the Pioneers cut things to three,
Ellie Rengstorf finished in the paint to give Grand View a three-point lead. Conrey would hit another big three with less than a minute until halftime to send the Vikings to the locker room with a 6-point advantage over MidAmerica.
Grand View's Larsen sank two free throws in the 3rd quarter to give the Vikings their first double-digit lead at ten. MidAmerica managed to cut things back under single figures, but a floater from
Anna Gossling kept things to eight points as they headed into the final quarter.
A 4-0 run by the Vikings would give them once again a double-digit lead.
Kaylyn Meyers, who was returning from an injury, saw her first minutes of action this season and grabbed a lay-up to increase their lead to 48-61. The Vikings had a 16-point win over the Pioneers after Larsen hit her final free throw, sealing her triple-double.

The Vikings' will have a rather quick turnaround as they hit the hardwood on December 5th in Sisam arena. Tip-off for the women's contest will begin at 5:30 p.m.
