DES MOINES, IOWA - Grand View wrapped up first-semester play in Sisam Arena Saturday afternoon; the Vikings hosted the Eagles of Central Methodist University. The Eagles kept things close in the first half, but Grand View would roll out to a 24-point win, 80-56.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Cleao Murray sparked the Vikings with a three to open the game. CMU tied things up around the 5-minute mark after hitting a three-pointer of her own.
Rachel Leerar split a pair of free throws to bring things back to an equal 15 after the Eagles went on a small run to own a single-digit lead. Two free throws from Murray and A lay-in from Leerar off a steal from
Ellie Rengstorf sent the Vikings to the second quarter up five, 22-17.
The Vikings struggled to limit the Eagles offensive rebounding in the second quarter, giving up four. The Eagles clipped four quick points to bring themselves back within one point, but
Anna Gossling hit a three to comfort their lead back to four. The Vikings were able to extend their lead just shy of ten points as they entered halftime, 38-30.
Another Murray three to open a quarter for Murray put the Vikings in double digits as they led 41-30. A 9-0 run by the Vikings would be the control factor for the Vikings as they led by 18. GVU wouldn't look back as costly technical fouls from the Eagles propelled the Vikings to a 24-point blowout win, 80-56.
GAME NOTES:
- All five Viking starters finished in double figures.
- Cleao Murray finished with 21 points and seven rebounds.
- Ella Larsen crafted another double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Her ninth of the season.

Grand View will take a few days over the holiday break to recuperate. The Vikings return to Sisam Arena for their final non-conference game versus the Roosevelt Lakers – the second meeting between the two teams, the last one dating back to 2014, where the Vikings won 65-61. The face-off will be on December 29
th at 5:30 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
