- Grand View and College of Idaho will meet in the NAIA FCS for the second time on Saturday in Des Moines, back in 2019, the Vikings were the second opponent for the Yotes in their first-ever FCS appearance.
- Grand View is one of TWO unbeaten NAIA schools heading into the Quarterfinals of the FCS (NWC).
- GVU leads the Heart in TDs (61), which sits SIXTH in the NAIA.
- Grand View sits 19-4 in the month of November under head coach Joe Woodley.
- The Vikings took a weekly honor from the league office in four of the 11 weeks this season; QB Jackson Waring was a 3x straight honoree.

- Grand View boasts one of the top defensives' in the country, which came up big this past weekend, holding the Blue-Hawks to only a FG led by DC E.J. Peterson, and ranks first in multiple categories, including points allowed per game (1st - 5.1 pg), yards allowed per game (1st - 211.4 pg), and rushing yards allowed per game (1st - 53.7 pg).
- The Vikings scored 61 touchdowns this season: 22 rushing, 37 passing, and two defensive TDs.
- Jackson Waring, the HOA MVP of the league, leads statistically in multiple categories, including No. 1 in pass efficiency (203.0), TD to Int. ratio (40:5), and yards per attempt (10.9) while only averaging two and a half quarters this fall.
- Waring tacked on four more touchdown passes to 3 different Viking receivers against the Blue-Hawks.
- Tristin Waugh, the HOA Defensive Player of the Year, leads the country in sacks with 14 and sack yards with 91 in total.
- Waugh added to his stats, recording a TFL against the Blue-Hawks for a loss of 5 yards.
- This marks Grand View's 12th time and 11th time straight in the FCS - the 4th appearance under HC Joe Woodley.
2023 5TH-CONSECUTIVE HOA CHAMPIONS!
- GVU earned its 5th-straight Heart of America North Division Championship.
- It's the fifth HOA title for head coach Joe Woodley since taking over for his father in 2019.
- Grand View led the Heart in (TDs, XPTs, PTs, PPG, YPG, YDs/ATT, Rushing TDs, Rush. Yds/G, YDS, 3RD %, PATs, PEN.) while playing one less game than 8 of the teams N/S of the Heart of America.
FAST STARTS
- Grand View has gotten off to fast starts this season, outscoring opponents 165-7 in the first quarter this season.
- The only team to have scored on the Viking defense in the first quarter was Missouri Baptist.
- GVU has held eleven opponents (FCS 2nd round qualifier Baker, MNU, MVC, CMU, CSC, GU, PSC, WPU, CU, DSU) scoreless in the first 15 minutes of play.
FAMILIAR FCS FOE
- The Vikings and Yotes met in 2019, the first year the C of I made the NAIA FCS. The Vikings were the Yotes' second game ever in the postseason.
- The Yotes led once in the first meeting, with an early FG on their opening drive, after the Vikings recorded a timely sack.
- Grand View emerged victorious 14-6. The Vikings' defense came in clutch, holding the Yotes to just two field goals all game after the Viking offense tacked on a TD right before halftime.
- After the game, the Vikings' moved to 13-0 and eyed another semifinal berth, while the Yotes concluded at 12-1.
DIFFERENCE IS IN THE DEFENSE
- The Yotes recorded 621 total offensive yards in their Second-Round game against the Frontier foe, 420 passing yards, and 201 via the ground.
- On average defensively in the Frontier Athletic Conference teams are allowing 26.6 ppg, in the Heart of America defenses allow 27.2 points with three more teams (12) accounted for to the FAC's nine.
- In their respective conferences, the Yotes' defense currently allows 24.7 ppg and the Vikings allow just 5.1.
- The Vikings only allow 155.3 passing yards and 56.1 rushing yards a game. C of I allows 106.7 rushing and 220.2 passing yards.
