Box Score Fayette, MO- The Vikings traveled south for a Sunday afternoon showdown with the Eagles of Central Methodist. After a late surge the Vikings eventually fell to the Eagles 5-3.
How It Happened:
The Eagles came out strong quickly scoring a goal in the 6th minute of action before they struck again in the 35th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. But
Payton Chapman would get the Vikings on the board before the end of the 1st half as he found the back of the net in the 41st minute, 2-1 Eagles.
The Eagles struck first again as the second half was getting started but
Lucas Newhard made sure to keep the game close as he scored less then 5 minutes later to bring the Vikings back within one goal, 2-3. The eagles would take the momentum back as they scored one minute later and then added their final goal in the 79th minute of play.
Jaren Obia would help put together several late runs before scoring a goal in the 83rd minute to cut the lead to two goals. The Vikings would not be able to generate anymore offense after their 3rd goal as the match would end in a 5-3 loss to the Eagles.
