Vikings Leave Lamoni with a Victory After 3 Sets

Des Moines, IA- Grand View capped off a weekend on the road with a match against the Yellowjackets of Graceland University. The Vikings would end their weekend on a high note after defeating the Jackets in a sweep with scores of, 25-18, 25-20, and 25-12. 

How It Happened- 
Grand View received a balanced attack in its final road trip of the regular season. Sydney Bealsey finished with 9 kills for the Vikings, Heleine Filipe returned to the floor for the Vikings, chipping in 7 kills - Brooklyn Roder followed behind with six. 

Jenna Bentz would have a solid night for the Vikings, walling up for six total blocks and 26 assists. Chevy Wagner-Chun would contribute with five aces and 16 digs. 

Grand View jumped out to an early 6-3 lead at the start of the contest. The Vikings would lead most of the first set, allowing them to control much of the match. Back-to-back kills form Filipe would lead the Vikings to a 25-18 first-set win. 

The second set would see a tie at five all, but the Vikings would go on a six-point run to lead 10-6. After a small answer from the Yellowjackets, an ace from Chloe McDermott would put the Vikings on top still, 13-10. The Jackets would manage to pull within four points but would end the set in favor of the Vikings on their errors. 

The Vikings would set the tone in the third set proving to be there for the sweep. Grand View jumped out to a 20-12 lead, Graceland would fight for a momentum shift, but Grand View would run away with it 25-12.

  • Vikings collected 50 total points to the Yellowjackets 37. 
  • Grand View is 10-0 versus the Yellowjackets in the last ten meetings. 
The Vikings are back in action on Tuesday Night for their regular-season finale, the team will host William Penn University at 7:00 p.m.
