Vikings Complete The Sweep On Senior Night

Des Moines, IA- On senior day the Vikings came out swinging early and held Culver-Stockton at bay as they picked up three decisive wins with scores of 25-16,25-19, 25-22.

How It Happened-
Sydney Beasley led the way for the Vikings as she picked up 11 kills followed closely by Brooklyn Roder with 10. Jenna Bentz was helpful on a majority of those kills as she lead the team with 26 assists. Sierra Wright was effective from the service line as she picked up 5 aces throughout the match.  And on the defensive side of the ball Kylie Hoben led the way with 7 blocks and Chevy Wagner-Chun collected 13 digs.

In the first set Beasley picked up a kill to start the match which sparked a Viking run helping them jump to a quick 8-1 lead. The Wildcats would start to rally back before Bentz picked up a kill which led to another long Viking run extending the lead back out to 8 points, 18-10. The teams would trade points before the wildcats would take a timeout to try and reset but the Vikings wouldn't allow them to get rolling as Vanessa Romo and Hoben would combine for a block out of the timeout. The Vikings would easily control the rest of the set taking a 1-0 lead after taking set 1, 25-16.

The second set would start out a little tighter as both teams would trade points until the Vikings built up a 4 point lead capped off with a Hoben kill, 16-12 Vikings. The Vikings wouldn't look back as they threw together several more short runs to control the rest of the set ended by a Roder Kill to take set 2, 25-19

Determined to close out the senior day game in three sets the Vikings came out firing on all cylinders as they quickly jumped out to a 11-4 lead. The Wildcats would claw their way back within 4 but the Vikings would quickly slow take control back with a 4 point run with back to back Wright aces. The Wildcats slowly worked their way back into the game as they got within 2 before taking a timeout, but Beasley would end the game on the very next play, Vikings win 25-22.
