Troy Plummer

Troy Plummer joined the Grand View University staff in 1995 and has held a variety of leadership roles over the past three decades. From 1995 to 2000, he served as an admissions counselor and assistant baseball coach, followed by his tenure as Associate Athletic Director from 2000 to 2007. In January 2007, he was appointed Director of Athletics, and in 2022, he assumed the additional role of Vice President.

While serving as Vice President/Director of Athletics at Grand View University, Troy Plummer has raised the standard across all athletic programs, elevating their opportunity to compete at the national level. Since his appointment as Athletic Director, the Vikings have claimed 21 national championships.

Many other Grand View programs have also gained national recognition, with 10 sports ranked in the NAIA Top 25 polls and 17 programs earning national postseason appearances.

Grand View has demonstrated strong support for the NAIA by hosting numerous national events. Last year, the university hosted the NAIA FCS Football Opening Round, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals. Also recently, Grand View served as host for the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship and the NAIA Men’s Wrestling National Championship.

While athletic success is a hallmark of Grand View, Plummer places equal emphasis on academic achievement. In the 2024–25 academic year, the Vikings boasted 206 Daktronics Scholar-Athletes.

Under Plummer’s leadership, the Grand View athletic department has added 48 full-time employees, and every program has benefited from more than $5 million in facility upgrades.

Plummer’s influence extends beyond campus. He is currently a member of the NAIA Athletic Directors Association Board of Directors and has served on the NAIA National Administrative Council and Championships Committee. Within the Heart of America Athletic Conference, Plummer serves as Chair of the Athletic Directors Committee, as well as on the Board of Governors Executive Committee and the Scheduling Committee. At Grand View, he is also a member of the President’s Council and Strategic Leadership Team.

Plummer received his bachelor’s degree in business management and athletic administration from Simpson College and his master’s in sport management from Western Illinois University. He resides in West Des Moines, Iowa, with his wife, Amy, and four children, Ty, Kaylee, Jack and Everly.
