Allison Groothuis brings a wealth of playing experience and a strong coaching foundation to her role as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach. A former standout at the Division I level, Groothuis spent five years competing in collegiate soccer, beginning her career at Northern Illinois University before transferring to the University of Northern Iowa, where she spent four seasons. Over the course of her collegiate career, she accumulated 7,010 minutes of playing time and established herself as one of the Missouri Valley Conference's premier defenders, earning MVC Defensive Player of the Week honors on multiple occasions, MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition, and a spot on the MVC All-Tournament Team.
Prior to her collegiate career, Groothuis was a decorated prep player at Bettendorf High School, where she earned All-Conference, All-District, and All-State honors across multiple seasons, as well as a prestigious selection to the All-Iowa Team.
Groothuis holds a degree in Movement and Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching, giving her a strong academic grounding in athlete development and performance. Her coaching career has taken her through several respected clubs in the region, including a coaching internship at Cedar Valley Soccer Club, continued coaching roles there, and additional experience with Sporting Iowa. She looks forward to bringing her competitive background, technical knowledge, and passion for player development to the program.
