Bob Peterson joined the Viking coaching staff in the Fall of 2012. Peterson has an extensive background in tennis and longtime presence in the Des Moines area community. He has been instructing tennis for over 20 years, most recently as the Head Professional at both the Aspen Athletic Club and Echo Valley Country Club in the Des Moines area. Prior to his Head Professional stints, Peterson was the Director of Tennis at both the Des Moines Golf & Country Club and Ames Racquet & Fitness Center. His certifications include a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Classification of Level 1 and Classification of Professional Tennis Registry (highest rating).

As a player, Peterson won two Iowa High School State Singles Championships and also competed in the Iowa High School State Doubles Championships. He played tennis for NCAA Div I University of Louisville on scholarship where he was co-captain and on the Top-50 Team.

Peterson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Louisville where he competed at the collegiate level. He resides in West Des Moines with his wife Kayla and their two children Ryan and Kelsie who both compete on the tennis teams at West Des Moines Valley High School. Ryan will join the Viking tennis team in the fall of 2013.
