Tyler Long

Tyler Long is entering his third season as assistant coach for Viking Basketball.

Long joins the Vikings after spending the 2022-23 season at Fort Scott Community College in the Jayhawk Conference. During his stint at FSCC, Long recruited and coached 4 All-Conference selections and helped sign multiple players to the Division 1 and 2 ranks. Long helped guide the Greyhounds to a 19-win season while helping the team reach double-digit wins in conference play for the first time in over a decade.

Prior to FSCC, Long was an Assistant at Emporia State University. In 2021-22, Emporia State finished with an overall record of 20-9 (their first 20-win season since 2006-07), including wins over two of the top five teams in the nation and 15 MIAA wins (the most in school history). While at Emporia State, Long helped coach four all-conference selections, including All-American Tray Buchanan, who also led the nation in scoring at 25.6 points per game.

Prior to his time at Emporia State, Long spent five seasons at the University of Central Missouri as a student and graduate assistant coach and helped the Mules to 3 MIAA tournament appearances. During his time at Central Missouri, Long helped coach 13 all-conference selections, including 4 academic All-Americans.

Long graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management, with minors in business administration, coaching, and marketing. He then received his Master's degree in sports management from the University of Central Missouri in 2021.
