Dana Miller

Dana Miller has served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Grand View University since August 2020.  In his current role, Dana coordinates the sports medicine program that services roughly 850 student-athletes across 27 intercollegiate athletic programs. Along with his managerial and administration responsibilities, Dana provides coverage to Football, Cheerleading, and Men's and Women's tennis teams, specializing on injury identification and prevention, rehabilitation, and emergency medical care during practices and games.

Dana grew up in Algona, IA. While in high school, he was a four-sport athlete for all four years, attending Bishop Garrigan. Wanting to stay involved with athletics in some capacity, Dana graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. While at UNI, Dana worked as a student athletic trainer for UNI football, women's soccer, women's volleyball, wrestling teams, and local high schools.  After completing his undergraduate degree, he gained valuable experience as a graduate assistant at Iowa Central Community College, where he served as an athletic trainer for the football and baseball teams while pursuing his master's degree in Sports and Recreation Administration from Wayne State College from 2015-2018. Following his master's program, Dana worked as an assistant Athletic Trainer at Marshalltown Community College from 2018 to 2020, providing healthcare services to the Women's volleyball, Women's basketball, and baseball teams.

Dana is driven by his passion to see the student-athletes he works with achieve their highest level of success. He is committed to making a positive impact on their health and performance. Dana loves Grand View for the family atmosphere he feels a part of and for the relationships he has formed along his journey here.

When Dana is not on the field or in the office, he enjoys anything that involves spending time with his family, especially if it means being outside. Dana lives in Des Moines with his wife Brooke, daughter Kara (4), and son Emmett (almost 2). His personal interests include gardening, boating, golfing, and fishing.
