Tom Barnabo

Barnabo begins his first year at Grand View as the defensive line coach. He is currently physical education teacher at Des Moines at Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, a position that he has held since 1996. At Dowling, Barnabo served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Barnabo's teams won back-to-back state football championships and went 26-0 in 2000 and 2001. He has spent the past four years coaching at Urbandale High School as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

Barnabo graduated from Parker High School in Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1982. He was an All-State linebacker and All-State Shrine Bowl participant. Barnabo played football at Drake University from 1982-87. He then served as a graduate assistant football coach at Montana State University from 1987-89. He was the Defensive Coordinator at Lake Worth High School (Florida) in 1989-90 before moving on to Simpson College where he served as the Linebackers coach for the Storm in 1990-92. In his two seasons at Simpson, the Storm won conference titles and NCAA playoff berths and had a record of 19-3. Barnabo coaches at Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, Texas, from 1992-96.

Barnabo resides in West Des Moines with his wife Susan and two sons, Dalton and Cole.
