Vikings Cruise Past William Woods in Straight Sets

Des Moines, IA - Grand View continued Heart of America Athletic Conference play with a sweep of William Woods (MO), winning 25-17, 25-22, 25-15 at home in Des Moines.

Set 1

Grand View traded points with William Woods through the early going before pulling ahead behind kills from Maria Eduarda dos Passos and Victoria Gasparini. The Vikings built a 17-12 lead, forcing a William Woods timeout, and closed out the set on a 3-0 run a service ace from Aydia Mayotte and two more kills from dos Passos to win it, 25-17.

Set 2

The two teams traded points and the lead throughout the second set, with the score level at 7-7 midway through. Grand View broke away with a 4-0 run a Beniz Tasdemir service ace among the points to lead 15-9, and later stretched the advantage further, forcing a pair of William Woods timeouts. William Woods rallied late, pulling within two, but Grand View called its own timeout to regroup and closed out the set on an Ana Julia Goncalves kill, winning it 25-22.

Set 3

Grand View opened with a 4-0 run three straight kills from Victoria Gasparini and a Juliana Neves service ace to take control early. The Vikings later broke the set open for good with another 4-0 run, capped by back-to-back service aces from Clarissa Hasty, to lead 15-8 and force a William Woods timeout. Grand View cruised from there, closing out the match on a Victoria Gasparini kill to complete the sweep, 25-15.
