Elle Nelsen's Big Day Propels Vikings Past Columbia International

ORLANDO, FL -- The Vikings wasted no time setting the tone Friday afternoon, erupting for an early lead and never looking back in a dominant win.

GRAND VIEW 9, COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL 0

Grand View got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Elle Nelsen sparked the rally with a double to center field. Chloe Kottlowski followed with a single to right, driving in the game's first run and putting the Vikings firmly in control.

The momentum carried into the third inning as Grand View added two more runs. Ella Taber delivered the big swing of the frame, ripping a double to left field to extend the lead to 5-0 and effectively put the game out of reach.

In the circle, Madeline Waldorf was untouchable. The right-hander tossed five shutout innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out seven and walking just one to earn the win.

At the plate, Taber and Kottlowski powered the lineup as a one-two punch, each driving in three runs. Grace Anderson added pressure on the basepaths, swiping two bases to help keep the offense moving.
With timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and a dominant performance in the circle, the Vikings put together a complete team effort from start to finish.
