WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Grand View Softball jumped out early in Saturday's doubleheader against Keiser, but the Seahawks capitalized on late momentum swings to take both games, handing the Vikings a pair of hard-fought losses despite strong starts and solid hits throughout the day.
GAME 1 | KEISER 5, GRAND VIEW 3
Grand View came out swinging in the opener, plating two runs in the top of the first to immediately put pressure on Keiser. Elle Nelson sparked the rally with a single that turned into an RBI after advancing to second on the throw, allowing
Grace Anderson—who reached earlier—to score.
Nevaeh Randall followed with an RBI single of her own to make it 2–0 before the Seahawks could settle in.
The Vikings held that advantage through the first three innings behind steady pitching and clean defense, before adding another run in the fourth. Anderson delivered again, lining an RBI single to right-center to score
Reese Cooley and extend the lead to 3–0.
Keiser responded in the bottom half of the fourth, taking advantage of a wild pitch, an RBI single, and a throwing error to even the score at three apiece. From there, the game tightened into a defensive battle.
The Seahawks edged ahead in the fifth using aggressive baserunning, then added an insurance run in the sixth. Grand View continued to put the ball in play but couldn't string together the hits needed late, falling 5–3 despite outhitting Keiser, 8–3.
Nelson led the Vikings at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Anderson finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
Madeline Waldorf and
Molly Breeding combined for seven innings in the circle, allowing just three hits, though unearned runs proved costly.
GAME 2 | KEISER 4, GRAND VIEW 1
The nightcap turned into a pitcher's duel early, with neither team breaking through over the first three innings. Grand View threatened in spots, but Keiser's defense held firm.
The Seahawks broke the stalemate in the fourth with a solo home run, then capitalized on a double and a Viking error to push across four runs in the inning.
Grand View answered in the fifth, showing resilience.
Alexia Jarrett reached and later scored when
Ceara Swanson ripped a single through the left side, putting the Vikings on the board and cutting the deficit to 4–1.
Despite continued pressure, including six hits on the day, the Vikings couldn't close the gap as Keiser's defense limited hard contact the rest of the way.
Jarrett tripled and scored the lone run, while Swanson went 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace the offense.
Chloe Kottlowski added a double, and four Viking pitchers combined to hold Keiser to five hits, keeping the game within reach after the decisive fourth inning.
