DES MOINES, IOWA - Following the women's team's impressive 33-15 victory earlier in the evening, the Grand View men's wrestling team delivered a statement performance of their own on Iowa PBS, blanking Missouri Valley College 41-0 in a complete team shutout. The historic double dual broadcast showcased the Vikings' dominance across both programs.
Grand View started the night by honoring our guest captain for the night, Coach Nick Mitchell. Long time head coach was greeted with a standing ovation.
Elijah Cater started the rout with a major decision over Robert Albert, 8-0.
Gabe Gonzales followed with a technical fall victory over Aiden Serrano, 19-3 in 4:39, before
Luke Fogleman added another major decision, defeating Blaine Ortiz 10-1.
Reese Courtney kept the momentum going with a 5-0 decision over Kristofer Arrey.
Bryce Boumans then dominated his match with a 20-4 technical fall over Rich Hart in 4:26.Â
During the intermission, the Vikings recognized both Football and Men's soccer as 2025 NAIA National Champions. The Vikings also welcomed back to Sisam, the 2016 National Champion Wrestling Team, who celebrated their ten year anniversary of the championship. The 2016 men's wrestling team was the first team in NAIA history to record over 200 team points, breaking the record of 193 points, with 209 that season. The crowd recognized all teams with a great applause, which made for a memorable night.Â
To start the dual back up at 165 pounds,
Dylan Whitt earned an 11-5 decision against Francis Morrissey.
Kristopher Ketchum  provided the lone fall of the dual for the Vikings, pinning Braelen Toles at the 3:38 mark.
Thomas Even and
Garavous Kouekabakilaho added decision victories, with Even defeating Luke Sarich 10-5 and GKÂ topping No. 3 ranked Elijah Hynes 6-2.
Capping off the shutout,
Shane Cook dominated Randy Gonzalez with his signature snatch single, earning a technical fall, 18-2 in 5:58.
The Vikings finished off the historic night with their first home dual win of the New Year.Â
