Men:
Alecson Deschamps received (9) overall seed in the singles draw. After receiving a bye in the first round, Alecson began his ITA campaign with a three-set thriller over Francisco Sanchez of Judson University. Deschamps went down 3-6 in the opening set, but rebounded to take the second 6-2 and the match tiebreaker 10-5. A similar pattern unfolded in the R32 (Third Round), where Deschamps dropped the first set 3-6, but completed the comeback with a 6-3, 10-7 victory over Chatton Haws of Olivet Nazarene University. Deschamps succumbed to a wrist injury on Saturday in the Round of 16 and was forced to retire against the eventual champion, Ching Wah Wai of Holy Cross University.
Enzo Naveda dropped his opening match to the eventual Runner-Up, but found success by making a run to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket with wins against Brock Dawson of Judson University and Lukas Silver of Bethel University.
In the doubles draw,
Adrian Reyes and Pierre De Chassey stormed into the Round of 16 by upsetting Sanchez and Hentrich of Judson University. Deschamps/Naveda also picked up a win over Silva/Tasev of Missouri Valley College before falling 5-8 in a late-night thriller to the (3) seeded Haws/Saleh of Olivet Nazarene.
Women:
All four women who competed at ITAs were able to pick up a victory in their first rounds.
Sonya Ordinteva won her first-round singles handily 6-1 6-3.
Sara Mendoza also picked up a singles win over Mariana Azevedo of Missouri Baptist University 6-3 6-2.
Camila Castro and
Ana Ponce breezed through their first doubles match with an emphatic 8-1 victory over Townsend/Bonnivier of Olivet Nazarene University.
