Vikings Drop a Game Against No. 4 OCU; One of Six Teams Left in the 2025 World Series

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA – No. 8 Grand View played as the home team today against No. 4 seed Oklahoma City University (OCU). Grand View's bats couldn't find the open windows during the game and OCU capitalized on a couple big hits that put the game out of reach. GV just suffered their first loss but will rest Sunday and enter Monday as one of six teams left in the 2025 Softball World Series.

GRAND VIEW 0, OKLAHOMA CITY 8

Madi Huisman started for the Vikings for this hot, afternoon contest. Three quick outs to start the game which included a quick glove from Olivia Kyes at the hot corner.
Olivia Harmon continued to stay hot and slapped a 3-1 pitch to center for a single to start the offense for GV. After tracking around the bases, Harmon was left stranded at third to end the inning.
Huisman went three up, three down in the top of the second as well. Ella Taber and Harmon both tracked down hard-hit pitches and a weak pop up to Kyes ended the inning in a hurry.
The top of the third put some pressure on the Viking defense for the first time in the game. OCU put runners on second and third with just one away. Huisman put a runner on with a walk that loaded the bases. Another walk was earned on a full count and OCU struck first in the game. After a sac fly, the Vikings were down 2-0 and more runs on the way were stumped on a terrific sliding catch by Golden Glove winner, Taber, in right field.
The bottom of the third, Chloe Kottlowski ripped a double into the gap in right-center, but the inning stalled out with the shortstop sitting at third.
Huisman showed her toughness in the top of the fourth as she regrouped and threw a flawless inning. The defense played tough behind her which included a great play from Kottlowski on a ball that went off the glove of Huisman.
OCU put one more on the board with a two out RBI in the top of the fifth and the deficit was now three for the Vikings.
Grand View put a couple runners on with just one away in the inning. Harmon and Kyes both shot missiles in the big moment but found the OCU defenders without much movement at all. A game of inches was on display.
The Vikings entered the bottom of the seventh with work to do, as OCU stretched the lead to 8 runs. Cooley reached first on a walk to jump start the inning. Meister earned a walk as well before another out was posted. The top of the lineup came up with but two outs, Grand View couldn't get enough momentum and fell, 0-8.
