PERU, NEBRASKA – The 6th-seeded Grand View men's basketball team hit the road for a Quarterfinal Conference Tournament matchup against 3rd-seeded Peru State College in Peru, NE. The Vikings came out strong, taking control early and heading into halftime with the lead. However, a second-half surge by Peru State proved too much to overcome, as Grand View fell 76-60, bringing their tournament run to an end.
Grand View came out strong in the first half, answering an early Peru State run with steady offensive production.
Jaxson Young and
Jackson Green provided key buckets, while
Connor Robertson's three-pointer helped build momentum. The Vikings took their first lead midway through the half and maintained control with disciplined defense and timely scoring. A layup by
Matthew Boldt and clutch free throws from Young in the final minutes secured a 31-28 advantage at the break.
However, the second half told a different story, as Grand View struggled to keep pace with Peru State. Despite Young's continued scoring and
Ayden Foster's presence in the paint, the Vikings found it difficult to close the gap. Peru State's Carlos Hines and Devin Tomlinson spearheaded a strong offensive surge, capitalizing on key layups and free throws to extend their lead. Grand View battled defensively, with
Joe Knutson and Chris Peoples recording blocks, but Peru State's efficient shooting proved too much to overcome. Despite a late push, the Vikings were unable to rally, falling 76-60.

Jaxson Young led the Vikings with a game-high 26 points, going 12-for-22 from the floor while adding four rebounds and two steals.
Connor Robertson contributed eight points, knocking down two three-pointers, while
Ayden Foster added seven points and five rebounds.
Despite a strong first half, the Vikings' three-point shooting cooled in the second, finishing just 2-for-18 from deep overall. Grand View also had difficulty capitalizing on turnovers, scoring only six points off Peru State's mistakes. The Vikings out-rebounded Peru State 29-28, with
Matthew Boldt and
Ofek Sirkis each pulling down five boards off the bench.
Defensively,
Joe Knutson recorded the team's only two blocks, but Peru State's efficient shooting and second-half surge proved too much to handle. Grand View's largest lead was five points early in the first half, but they were unable to regain momentum as the game progressed.
