CEDAR RAPIDS, IA: The Vikings on the brink of elimination put together a great all-around game to defeat the Baker Wildcats. The Vikings defense was able to stand strong throughout the whole game not giving up a run in a 3-0 win.
Jessica Walljasper picked up her 16
th win of the season after dishing out a 1 hit, 7 strikeout complete game. She helped get the job done on offense as well as she collected 2 hits and 2RBI's. The Vikings first run came in the 4
th inning with a Walljasper single past shortstop scoring
Olivia Kyes. The Vikings would strike again in the top of the 6
th with a
Rachel Anderson double into left field scoring
Kylie Merical. And then Walljasper would come up to the plate again and find a gap into center field scoring
Gracie Hagle for the final run of the game.
GAME NOTES:
- Walljasper didn't walk a single batter through the game
- GV only left 4 runners on base
- GV out hit the Wildcats 6-1
- The Vikings are 12-9 all time against the Wildcats.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Grand View will be back on the field tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM. They will take on the Vikings of Missouri Valley, who they split a double header with earlier this year. The winner of that game takes on the top seeded CMU Eagles in the semi-finals.
