Vikings Finish Trip to the Sunny State 5-1

Davenport, FL- Grand View baseball concludes their trip in Florida with a victory, ending the week 5-1 with their only loss to the No. 1 ranked team in the nation. The Vikings would defeat Calumet College of St. Joseph in a single game and would drop one to Southeastern before completing the series sweep over Cornerstone, tallying 34 runs in 3 games.

GAME 1: Senior Ryan Roby would get the start for the Vikings, his first of the season. He was followed by a handful of other Viking relievers that would all contribute to the win. Brock Jonson singled to start the second inning, and Brooke Heinen followed it up with an RBI double to bring Grand Views' first run across the plate. On to the top of the third where Himrich, Drill, and Heinen all had an RBI to increase the lead to 4-0. The bottom of the 4th inning is where the Crimson Wave started to build an inning and get one back, but Junior Zach Neese was able to come in and limit the damage that was done. The Vikings would add two more runs in the top of the 6th and 7th to go ahead by 10.

GAME 2:  Josh Stoll would take the mound versus the number one team in the nation Southeastern University. Stoll is credited with the loss and would go 3 innings giving up 4 runs striking out 4 and walking 3. Rece Heinen and Hank Himrich each collected one hit for the Vikings. Zeke Balderas would hit the only run for the Vikings with a SAC fly to center field in the top of the 9th inning.

GAME 3:  Pitcher Drew Conn would run into some trouble that he would work out of in the bottom of the first. Conn would go 6 innings allowing 4 H, 2 ER, and striking out 7 in his second outing in 5 days. The Grand View offense continued to stay hot bouncing back from their game against Southeastern.
