BABSON PARK, FL- Grand View keeps their hot streak rolling in Florida as they move to 5-1 to end the week and 11-2 overall after a sweep over Webber International University. Grand View's defense took center stage as they only surrendered 6 runs over two games with wins of 8-3 & 5-3.
GAME 1: Jessica Walljasper would start the game for the Vikings as she threw 4 innings and picked up her 6
thwin of the season before
Lani Gannon entered the game and picked up her 1
st save of the season helping the Vikings escape with the win. Most of the Vikings scoring output would happen in the 3
rd inning as
Olivia Kyes pushed in a run with a single before
Chloe Kottlowski doubled and advanced to 3
rd off of a wild throw helping push across 3 more runs. This inning would be the difference maker as the Vikings picked up the 8-3 win while only collecting 6 hits in the process.
GAME 2: Madi Huisman was able to pick up her 5
th win of the season as she gave up 3 hits through 7 innings and struck out 6 batters. Webber would give the Vikings some trouble early on as they pushed 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 1
st inning. The Vikings responded with a 4 run second inning to take the lead back.
Olivia Harmon and Kyes both had RBI singles before Kottlowski was able to reach on a fielder's choice scoring another run to tie the game. Allyx lee would push the game winning run across the plate with a Sac fly to left field.
Kylie Merical would add on an insurance run in the top of the 4
th to help the Vikings escape game number 2 with a 5-3 win.
