BALDWIN CITY, KANSAS The Vikings men's wrestling team traveled down to Kansas to dual both the Wildcats of Baker University and Benedictine College. Grand View wins 18 of the 20 matches on the night, dominating the mat most of the night.
Grand View University vs. Baker University
The first dual of the night included our Vikings butting heads with Baker University. The night started with No. 2 ranked Gabe Gonzales finding a fall over No. 18 Saoul Prado in the first period of action. Our one loss came at 133 pounds but No. 4 Carson Taylor gets the Vikings back on track with a pin in the first minute of wrestling. Elijah Larsen ranked 7th in the country, toed the line at 149 pounds and found a 5-2 win over Nikolas Slatoff. 157 pound bout found another decision from No. 9 Easton Larson defeating Jakob Stovall. Bonus points at 165 pounds with Danny Diaz earning a tech fall in the first period. No. 1 Alex Reynolds continues his domination at 174 pounds with a first period fall. The Vikings Lucas Hageman represented at 184 pounds and secures a 9-4 victory over Eli Messik. The top wrestler at 197 pounds, Garavous Kouekabakilaho, earned a technical fall in the second period over Kevin Lund. To round out the first dual was Carter Smuck at 285, fighting his way to a fall in the final minute of the match. GV took the first dual 43-5 with Baker being docked a team point for unsportsmanlike.

Grand View University vs. Benedictine College
Grand View took on Benedictine next and was much of the same. No. 2 Gonzales started the dual of the same way, sticking his opponent in the first period. No. 3 ranked Jackson Cockrell followed him up at 133 pounds with a major decision, 16-6. Taylor gets another first period fall at 141 pounds and the next two find falls as well. No. 3 Cole Ferguson over Hayden Biggs at 149 and No. 9 Larson gets a 40 second finish at 157 pounds. Diaz wrestled in this dual as well and added another 5 points to the team score with a second tech fall. No. 1 Reynolds followed up at 174 pounds with another TF for the Vikings. Lucas Hageman lost by decision at 184 pounds in a high scoring battle. No. 1 Kouekabakilaho remains sound in his tech fall victory at 197 over Doug Blaha. Carter Smuck ends the dual and the night for the Vikings at heavyweight with a 2-0 decision over Mason Harris. Grand View won by a team score of 46-3 over Benedictine and headed home with two more dual wins in the books.
