PARK CITY, KANSAS – No. 1 Grand View men's wrestling opened their 2024-2025 season at the Falcon Open this past Saturday, November 2nd. Two Grand View men's wrestlers took 1st place in their respective weight classes, with four earning runner-up.

 In the 125-pound category, 8^th-ranked Gabe Gonzales claimed 1^st. Gonzales began with a bye in the first round and then advanced with a dominant 16-2 major decision victory over Aden Sanders from Central Oklahoma. In the quarterfinals, he secured an 11-4 decision over 7^th-ranked Connor Hueck of St. Thomas University and won a close 6-5 decision against Mikey Ruiz in the semifinals. Gonzales finished strong in the championship round, defeating 6^th-ranked Landon Smith from Embry-Riddle by a tech fall with a score of 17-1.

In the 149-pound class, 7^th-ranked Cole Ferguson captured the 1st-place finish. He started with a major decision over Darion O'Neil (Bethany College) with a score of 11-3. Ferguson then went on to win by fall over Gage Mullins from Missouri Valley College in the quarterfinals and proceeded to the semifinals, where he won by a 7-3 decision against Thomas Kohn from Oklahoma City. In the finals, he secured 1st place by narrowly defeating his teammate Darnai Heard with a 4-2 decision.

Earning a second-place finish were Darnai Heard (149), Easton Larson (157), Dylan Whitt (165), and Braden Anderson (174).
