Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Vikings Fall Short Against Central Methodist Despite Green’s 33-Point Performance, 90-83

DES MOINES, IOWA – The Grand View Men's Basketball team battled the Central Methodist University Eagles at home Saturday afternoon. Despite some key momentum swings late in the second half, the Vikings ultimately fell short, dropping the contest 90-83.

Grand View started the game trailing, but back-to-back three-point baskets from Jackson Green and Patrick Wollard evened things up early. Central Methodist kept the pressure on throughout the half, forcing the Vikings to rely on defense and transition offense to stay in the game. A mid-half run from the Eagles stretched the Vikings' deficit to 14 points, the largest of the half. It was Green again with the response, knocking down another three-pointer on the assist from Gavyn Strand, and the duo added a quick steal-to-fast-break sequence, capped by Green's layup on another Strand assist. James Ogrodink chipped in with a lay-up and three-point basket to keep the Vikings in the fight. At halftime, Green led all scorers with 19 points, while Ogrodink added 9.

The Vikings entered the second half trailing by 11 and fought hard to close the gap. Midway through the period, momentum swung Grand View's way as Connor Robertson hit a three-pointer, followed by a deep three from Green that ignited the gym and put them within striking range at 68-62. However, the Eagles answered back, finding success at the free throw line and inside the paint to regain control. In a final push, the Vikings clawed back with two layups from Jaxson Young, two clutch free throws from Ayden Foster, and another three-pointer from Green, cutting the lead to just two points. Despite the effort, Central Methodist held on down the stretch to secure the win, handing Grand View the loss at 90-83.
