Park Powers Past Grand View for 76-58 Victory

PARKVILLE, MISSOURI – Grand View headed back to Missouri to take on the Pirates of Park University to open their Heart of America campaign, the Vikings were coming off of a thrilling OT win, and a closely contested game against No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan the previous weekend. The Vikings however struggled to establish offense resulting in a Heart opening loss, 76-58.

The game began with both teams struggling to find their offensive rhythm, as early exchanges were marked by missed shots and turnovers. Jaxson Young and Ayden Foster made key plays for Grand View, but the Vikings couldn't capitalize on their opportunities. Park University opened up a lead midway through the first half, fueled by strong performances from Christian Bradford and Jaden Robinson. Despite solid efforts from Foster and Joe Knutson on both ends of the floor, Grand View couldn't slow Park's momentum. The Vikings struggled to convert on offense, while Park capitalized with efficient free throw shooting and timely 3-pointers to extend their lead.

In the second half, Grand View continued to fight back, led by Jaxson Young and Matthew Boldt, who contributed key layups and jumpers. However, Park's offensive dominance, including fast breaks and crucial 3-pointers, kept the Vikings at bay. Despite strong efforts from Boldt and Knutson, Grand View could not close the ga, falling 76-58.

For Grand View, Jaxson Young led the team with 9 points, contributing 7 rebounds and 2 assists in 26 minutes of play. Joe Knutson added 7 points and 7 rebounds, while Matthew Boldt chipped in 7 points and 2 rebounds off the bench. Josh Sanderson had a solid performance with 11 points, including 3 three-pointers. Despite a strong rebounding effort, grabbing 42 boards as a team, the Vikings struggled with shooting accuracy, finishing the game with a 35% field goal percentage and 21% from beyond the arc.
