DES MOINES, IOWA—The Grand View men's basketball team took on Midland University in a Halloween Hoops match-up Thursday evening at Sisam Arena. The teams battled down to the wire before Midland held on for a 77-72 win. Both teams showed strong interior play, tying with 38 points in the paint in a physical, back-and-forth game.

Grand View turned Midland's turnovers into 12 points but struggled on second-chance opportunities, with Midland capitalizing on offensive rebounds to notch 17 points to the Vikings' 3. The Warriors' bench also contributed 23 points, outscoring the Vikings' reserves by 14.

The Vikings shot 45.6% from the field overall, including an efficient 56% in the first half, but struggled from beyond the arc, finishing just 5-of-26 (19.2%). Despite shooting 83.3% from the free-throw line, the Vikings couldn't maintain their early momentum, with their largest lead at 5 points early in the game.

Jaxson Young led Grand View with a stellar 37-point performance, shooting 12-22 from the field and an efficient 12-14 from the line. Ayden Foster was also impactful, adding 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Despite their efforts and multiple lead changes, the Vikings ultimately fell short.

The Vikings are back in non-conference play on Monday, hosting Faith Baptist College at 6:00 p.m. in Sisam Arena. The event, titled "A Night for Good Vibes and Prayers," will support families, especially children of former Grand View players, facing health challenges.
