Grand View Returns to Davenport with Dominance: Vikings Shut Out St. Ambrose 34-0

DAVENPORT, IOWA – For the first time since 2014, No. 2 Grand View traveled to Davenport, Iowa, to match up with the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose. After a slower start, the Vikings offense would run up 34 points as the defense stood tall on the road to post its third shutout by a final score of 34-0.

The Vikings established their dominance right from the start with a solid defensive effort during the Bees' opening drive. After a quick offensive series from the Fighting Bees that resulted in just -2 yards. Quarterback Jackson Waring quickly made his mark by linking up with Aisea Toki for an impressive 55-yard touchdown pass, just 11 seconds into their drive, putting the Vikings ahead 7-0.
St. Ambrose struggled to find their rhythm, managing only a handful of first downs while dealing with penalties that hindered their progress. The Grand View defense proved formidable, forcing the Bees to punt after a series of unsuccessful plays. Capitalizing on their next possession, the Vikings drove downfield and scored again, with Waring rushing for a 2-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0 with just under four minutes left in the first half.

Grand View maintained their momentum as the second half began, taking possession at their own 30-yard line. Waring connected with Triston Williams for a 9-yard gain, leading to a balanced offensive series. Although a promising drive stalled at the St. Ambrose 49-yard line, punter Kody Kruschwitz delivered a solid 51-yard kick, pinning the Bees deep in their own territory.
Struggling to respond, St. Ambrose managed only 8 yards on their next drive before being forced to punt. The Vikings seized the momentum, embarking on a methodical drive that culminated in Waring's 3-yard touchdown rush, putting Grand View ahead 20-0 with just over four minutes remaining in the quarter.

The fourth quarter opened with the Vikings continuing their offensive onslaught. After a quick stop by the defense, Grand View swiftly moved the ball downfield, with Waring finding Tate Stine-Smith for a 6-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 27-0.

St. Ambrose's offense struggled to gain traction, suffering a series of setbacks that resulted in negative yardage on their possessions. The Vikings' defense, led by standout players like Jackson Filer and Aaron Brown, consistently pressured St. Ambrose quarterback Tomele Staples, leading to sacks and incomplete passes.

As time dwindled, Grand View struck again with an explosive play—a 38-yard touchdown pass from Waring to Stine-Smith. Kicker Cory Wood successfully added the extra point, solidifying the final score at 34-0 and putting the game well out of reach for the Bees.
