DES MOINES, IA — The Grand View Women's Volleyball team hosted Graceland University Tuesday night for a Heart of America Conference matchup. After a challenging weekend at the Marvel Classic, the Vikings were able to bounce back, defeating the Yellowjackets in four sets, with set scores of 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, and 25-14.
In the first set, Grand View initially struggled to seize the lead but relied on their strong offensive play to keep the score competitive.
Jenna Bentz showcased her offensive versatility, adding two kills and twelve assists in the set. The Vikings dominated offensively, recording a total of seventeen kills compared to Graceland's six. A standout performance came from middle hitter,
Sydney Beasley, who tallied five kills in the set, including the point that fortified the set win, 25-22.
The second set allowed the Viking's to find their rhythm, highlighted through their balanced offense that produced a match high .455 hitting average. Six players recorded kills,
Sydney Beasley leading with four, while
Reese Casey and
Brooklyn Roder each added three.
Reese Casey also contributed defensively, contributing two blocks as Grand View cruised to a second set win, 25-16.
Graceland responded with increased offensive pressure, forcing Grand View into a late third set deficit. In the face of adversity, the Vikings fought back from a seven-point gap by capitalizing on Yellowjacket errors and leveraging
Sydney Beasley's offensive momentum.
Sydney Beasley played a crucial role in the final stages, contributing three kills and two blocks in the run. Despite their efforts, Grand View fell 25-23 in the third set.
The fourth set ignited the Vikings, who rallied to secure a commanding 25-14 victory.

Sydney Beasley both put down six kills in the set to propel the team to their seventh conference win of the season.
