MARSHALL, MO: Grand View capped off their road trip with a dominate win over Missouri Valley taking home the title of the top Vikings in the conference.
Jaxson Young led the way with 19 points in the 21 point victory. With a final score of 85-64 the Vikings pick up their 5th conference win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Mo Valley would hit two quick threes to take control in the early moments of the game but a pair of threes from
Noah Hart and
Markell Hood would give GV the lead back. The teams would trade baskets until GV would take control coming out of the first half media timeout and building up an 11 point lead with a layup from
Kino Thompson. With under 5 minutes in the first half
Connor Robertson would take over as he hit 2 three pointers with help from Young. Young wouldn't miss out on the scoring as he hit his own three soon afterwards. The Vikings would keep their foot on the gas to end the first half as they headed to the locker room with a 12 point lead, 41-29.
Mo Valley would start out with a few shots to cut the lead early but again Hart would splash home a three to swing the momentum back in favor of Grand View. The Mo Valley would begin to climb back into the matchup over the next few minutes and cut the lead as low as 6 points before the Viking offense was kick started by a
Jacob Koontz black that would extend their lead to 25 points with 2 minutes remaining. As the final buzzer sounded Grand View brought home a convincing win over a talented Missouri Valley team with a final score of 85-64.
