MARSHALL, Mo. – The Vikings defeated the Missouri Valley College Vikings in their second game of Heart play. Grand View forced five sets and came out victorious with scores of 25-20, 24-26, 19-25, 25-22, and 15-13. 

The Vikings were led once again by Heleine Filipe, Filipe tallied 16 kills, three digs, and 3 blocks. 

A trio of Vikings marked double-digit kills, Brooklyn Roder, Vanessa Romo, Isabel Floyrance all executed 11 apiece. The pair, Emily Byrd, and Jenna Bentz added 23 and 21 assists. 

Chevy Wagner-Chun would carry out 22 digs for the Vikings. 

The first set was a rocky one for Grand View, the team would start out 0-4, The Vikings would prevail however, and make things neck-to-neck tying things up 22 all until they would go on a 3-0 run to steal set one, 25-22. 

The teams went back-and-forth throughout the second set, but Missouri Valley would come from behind capitalizing on Grand View's late errors ot take it 26-24. 

The Vikings struggled to find ground in the third set, as soon as Grand View brought it within a few points Missouri Valley would expand their lead and keeping it comfortable as they won set three, 25-19.

The fourth set was a gritty battle for the Vikings. A slower start would be worrisome, but Grand View would battle back to take a 23-20 lead and wouldn't look back, a kill from Roder followed up by an error on Missouri Valley would give them the chance to take Moval to five with a score of 25-22. 

The fifth set was another tough battle.The Vikings were able to close it out with another execution from Filipe as she grabbed her 16th kill to end the match in favor of Grand View, 3-2. 

The Vikings will prepare for a home stretch the Bobcats of Peru State College come to Des Moines this Tuesday, September 19th, first serve is at 7:00 p.m.
