Top Ranked Vikings Dominate Down South, Picking up Two Duals Wins

ATCHINSON, KANSAS - The first-ranked Vikings traveled south to compete in a triangular dual hosted by the Ravens of Benedictine College. 18th-ranked Baker University and Benedictine College joined Grand View. The Vikings dominated, winning all bouts but one versus both teams. 


VERSUS (18) BAKER UNIVERSITY 

At 125 pounds, the Vikings would post a FF but would kick things off with two straight pins at 133 by No. 1 Carson Taylor and 141 Tony Mendoza. Up 12-6, the Vikings recorded two TF wins at 149 and 157, started by No. 1 Blake Gonzalez and Cael Palmer. No. 4 Alex Reynolds coasted by with an open bout from the Wildcats at 174. Grand View closed dual one out with three straight fall wins at 184 by No. 1 Isaiah Luellen, at 197 by No. 7 Garavous Koekabakilaho, and HW No. 1 Greg Hagan as they won 46-10.

VERSUS BENEDICTINE COLLEGE 

Grand View would finish the afternoon winning all bouts but one at 125 due to a FF.  No. 1 Taylor recorded another pin, making him 2-0 on the afternoon. Mendoza also recorded his second fall win of the day at 141. No. 1 Blake Gonzalez had a TF win 18-0 over Mason Scholtz. Cole Ferguson got his first win of the day by a Major decision at 157. Easton Larson bounced back after his tough loss in the first dual with a fall win. Alex Reynolds recorded a TF win for his first action of the afternoon following an earlier forfeit by Baker. No. 1 Vikings recorded three straight pins to end the day. No. 1 Luellen, No. 1 Owen Braungardt, and No. 1 Greg Hagan registered a pin to secure another dual win, 50-6.
