The Vikings met double Eagle Foes in PucketteĀ FieldhouseĀ for a tri-dual against Avila University and Central Methodist University. The Vikings left without a loss, defeating Avila 56-0 and CMU 50-0.Ā

At 125 pounds,
Lucas Rodriguez would move by with an eagle forfeit. Top-ranked
Carson Taylor (133lbs) and this week's Heart of America Wrestler of the Week, would pick things up as he pinned Luke Ward in the first period to push the Eagles' deficit to 12. 141-pounderĀ
Ben Murphy would follow Taylor's efforts with a pin of his own in the first period. No. 1
Blake Gonzalez would be the next Viking to see action at 149, Gonzalez posted a tech fall over Terrell Carter-Williams, 17-0. Avila would have three straight open weights to give Grand View a 41-to-nothing lead. No. 2
Isaiah Luellen would mirror Gonzalez's tech fall with one of his own, 17-2. Top-ranked at 197,
Owen Braungardt would get his first match of the new season coming off of his National Championship. BraungardtĀ would get the pin in under a minute for the Vikings. Heavyweight's best,
Greg Hagan, finished the first dual for the Vikings with a major decision, 8-0, finishing with a team score of 56 to Avila's 0.Ā
VERSUS (RV) CMUĀ
The Vikings kept the same bouts for the second dual of the evening. Rodriguez would get the forfeit win again with an open weight for Central Methodist. No. 1
Carson Taylor would again get his second pin of the evening in the first period.
Ben Murphy received a decision win over Chuck Fitzgerald, 9-2. Gonzalez finished 2-0 on the evening after a TF win 17-0 in the second period over Mitchell Huber.
Cole Ferguson would see action in his second match of the evening; Ferguson picked up a 5-2 decision win to push the Viking's advantage to 23-0.Ā Ā
Justin McCunn and
Alex Reynolds both recorded a pin in their second match of the evening following their forfeit win over Avila.
Isaiah Luellen finished his second bout with another tech fall win, 19-4. Braungardt moved to 2-0 on the season, endingĀ his second match with a MD over Cameron Cornman. Hagan would send the Vikings back to Des Moines 2-0 in duals on the season after his pin against Garine Gibson.Ā
